Installing loft boards straight onto a joist or truss is not advised. Installing a raised system on your trusses or ceiling joists is the proper procedure because it will raise the boards over the insulation. After that, you can raise the platform by installing loft boards on the raised subframe.
Condensation in lofts is typically caused by inadequate air movement. Air enters the loft from the eaves and circulates throughout the area because lofts are supposed to be frigid places. Any moisture in the air will result in condensation if the eaves are closed off or if the membrane underneath the roof tiles is not permeable.
Although loft boarding is extremely sturdy and can bear a substantial weight when supported by a solid base, you shouldn't go over the suggested static weight of 25 kg per square metre because your roof joists are not as thick and durable as the rafters in your living areas' floors. Your roof rafters might not be able to support it, but the raised floor system can.
